Bookending One's Days

"The moments I spend sitting in meditation are the moments where I am most content with who I am. They are the moments where I am pleased to be myself, no matter the flaws and shortcomings. Like most people, I am on an endless quest to be somehow better, but during the time I am just sitting, the quest is over - I am already good enough."
Dinty Moore, The Accidental Buddhist

"Movement is movement; sitting is sitting, just don't wobble ...."
Yun-men Wen-yen

This is how my days begin and end, in a quiet room at home with a few rays of sunlight slanting across the floor and a cushion waiting patiently for me to show up, seat myself and just breathe for a while. Beyond the edges of this photo are a few meditation aids, a figure of the Kamakura Buddha under the window, a beeswax votive candle in a plain earthenware bowl, another plain earthenware bowl containing sand which is used for incense. The room is still and perfect just as it is, and at this dark time of the year I savour every ray of sunlight which dances through the window.

Your words and photographs are exquisitely simple, moving and evocative. I love coming here to catch a glimpse of your life in the north. Your spirit shines through. Thank you. namaste & shalom, Karina

I also find that the peace of meditation fills me with serenity and I seek to find the stillness not only on my pillow but within my day to day life......I have begun yoga classes 3 times a week and i am awed at the transformation , shapeshifting and journeying that this path has lead me too.........aisling
