Jack in the Morning

Jack-in-the-Pulpit (Arisaema triphyllum)

A single robust specimen of this member of the Arum family has found its way into the fertile shaded ground in a corner of the garden behind the little blue house, and there it appears every year in early summer among the tall blue bellflowers and the lilies. My Jack shows no signs of spreading, and it seems to be truly contented in the home which it has chosen for itself.

This is another of those wonderful examples of leafy organic architecture which the Old Wild Mother seems to delight in creating (she has designed so many of them!), and it sports lovely red berries later in the summer.

jack is beautiful!
I purchased some from the native plant nursery and am really hoping they will find a home they enjoy here in the woods.
