Lavish Spirits

It is Saturday morning, and we are off to the Lanark Highlands in a few minutes - I am hoping that our wild turkey eggs hatched out this week, and that there are fourteen little turkeys dancing around in the woods and learning how to forage for themselves. If so, that makes me either an aunt or a god(dess)mother, or perhaps both.

As we depart, here are pictures of the peonies which are blooming so abundantly in the garden behind the little blue house this morning. Lavish spirits, these peonies, and they have their own special connection to Lanark - some years ago, I discovered them blooming behind an abandoned farmhouse in the highlands, rescued them and transplanted them into the garden along with two splendiferous clematis specimens, white and deep blue. On days when I can't go out to the woods, there's a bit of the Lanark Highlands right here in my garden to connect with.

These are beautiful, love the colours. Be careful as the weather is not so nice heading to Lanark this morning. Take care, Luv Lou
