It is starting to rain here, and there are sure to be biting bugs in the woods, but we are off to Lanark this morning to check on the well being of our wild turkey and her nest.
Before leaving (laden down with sunscreen, insect repellent, dog cookies, water bottle, digital camera, binoculars and floppy hat), here are a few images taken early this morning in the garden behind the little blue house. These are blooming specimens of Garden Columbine or Aquilegia vulgaris. Aquilegia they are, but vulgaris they are not, to my way of thinking.

Oh - these photos are gorgeous! Columbines are blooming here also. I went out yesterday to take photos before the storm.
Hope your turkey is well - have a lovely ramble!
ahh I am jealous of your stoll.......and I think my dogs are too.....it was wet and dark here..great for tea, reading and napping......i love the stillness the rain brings .it as if I am part of the earth's meditation when the breath seems to dissapate and you are so close to peace.....aisling
truly gorgeous columbines ... and you're right they are not vulgar! they remind me of ballerinas.
