Every single leaf and stem is amazing, and one drinks in the high vibrant colours like wine, becoming intoxicated by all the dancing red and russet and gold. The whirling ballet of the leaves in October is their last choreography, a crowning performance before they fall to earth and become earth themselves, the essential matter out of which new life will emerge next spring. The Old Wild Mother is dancing, and she is already dreaming of rest and regeneration.
These are beautiful photos. I keep an image of you in my head, walking through the woods, focusing and snapping, a quiet smile on your face. Thank you once again for helping me stop the rushing around to listen and observe. That is a gift to me.

ReplyDeleteYour photograph are rich with color and texture. Even though we've had beautiful color this fall, we have not seen many days with the vibrancy of those you posted.
