Is there a long standing weather convention for the day which follows closely upon the cloak hem of Samhain or Halloween? On this morning of All Saints' Day, there is brilliant sunshine and blue skies overhead, the light and cloud being filtered though the bare (mostly) trees in the garden of the little blue house in the village. For the last several years, the weather on this day has been just like as it is today, and it is a gift of the very best kind.
Most of the leaves in the garden have already fallen, but here and there are solitary leaves waving to and fro in the wind, and a few of the oak trees in the garden persist in retaining their foliage all year long. On the smallest of the trees, the tattered leaves bend and curl and turn in place, assuming the shapes of winding stairways, spirals and minute labyrinths which resemble modern sculpture, the talons of eagles or the horns of exotic Argali rams.

There is a delightful sparkle to the air here... Trees are dancing to the wind's direction and I am loath to leave for -whisper - doctors...
The last photo seems to be inviting us to participate in something --- wonder what?
The day here has also been beautiful, sun and blue sky but for the first time a real chill in the air. Unlike your garden though, the trees in mine still have almost all their leaves and the general effect is still green apart from the beech trees and hedges.
Wonderful wonderful images. I cant thank you enough. Not only the eye to see them, but the skill to capture them.
We also have a clear, cold day here. First day without clouds and one of the few without rain in a while. The leaves are almost all off the trees and the mountaintops are covered in snow.
Beautiful leaf photos.
Nice mood.
I especially like the leaf rimed with frost.
Was struck by the perfect "Halloween-ness" of the leaves. The bottom photo of the couplet, is reminisce of a Sorting Hat from Harry Potter. Made me smile.
