Icy Abstractions

Winter's ice bedecked twigs and glossy pendants are small worlds, each with its own symmetry and its own unique beauty. No two pendants are alike, but all are jewels: faceted drops of glittering water frozen in time and space.

As I pottered along yesterday, I realized that I seldom encounter such sparkling wonders in areas where the terrain is fairly flat, and the movement of the water is quiet and sluggish. The finest icicles seem to form in those places where the grades are steep and the wild water rushes headlong down the slopes in a fine frothy turbulence, flowing fast and free over the rocks and singing rude lyrics at the top of its lungs.

Marvelous images. I'm just reading a book now about dangerous emotions and how they can either freeze and cause suffering, or flow and just flow on by. Thanks for these.

I love the top card! Not just for the beautiful icicle but for the face in the background behind and below!

Love you

How I delight in the finer details that nature presents us. These photos are beautiful. I peer into the little icy lenses to see the lights.
