Thanks for mentioned my post, Cate. It seems as though these clouds must have been quite widespread and similar for quite some area. How neat!
When I see a sky like that,I think of the passage from the book, Ahab's Wife by Sena Jeter Naslund,
"Dawn had come upon us. The dawn-drenched clouds suggested wings: mauve, purple, rose, gold-outlined-and the sky seemed full of gigantic beings. Though they had no real form, yet they flew and floated in their domain. 'Angels' was all I could say."
I refer to them as "Una skies"! I loved that book and highly recommend it if you have not read it.
I am reading the Cloud Spotters Guide by Gavin Pretor-Pinney - but this is the most beautiful photo I have ever seen of clouds. What wonder.
