The Friday Ramble - River

Between earth and earth's atmosphere, the amount of water remains constant; there is never a drop more, never a drop less. This is a story of circular infinity, of a planet birthing itself.
Linda Hogan, Dwellings

The ancient Irish bards knew the Salmon of Knowledge as the giver of all life's wisdom. In the salmon's leap of understanding like a leap of faith, we can see ourselves "in our element," immersed in the river of life. The cycle of the salmon's journey reminds us that all rivers flow to the same sea.

Lynn Noel, Voyages: Canada's Heritage Rivers

To put your hands in a river is to feel the chords that bind the earth together.
Barry Lopez

The word for this week's Friday ramble is "river", and the choice is a consequence of reading again the words of the late John O'Donohue, his wish that he could live like a river flows, carried by the surprise of its own unfolding.

Life and the cosmos are a great river flowing on and on: the stars streaming over our heads on winter nights and the waters flowing along underneath our feet, rain, ice and snow, the tides and currents of the oceans, the salty life giving rivers of blood singing through our veins, Mother Earth in her perfect effortless ebb and flow.

Charted or uncharted, frozen or running free, deep or shallow, silent or symphonic - rivers are the stuff of which life is made. What does "river" mean to you, and what images does it conjure up?

River, Huumm,
The destiny of life, flowing freely, us not knowing where we are or what we are doing, but we get THERE, no matter how! We truly do. I believe our destiny is planned and some of us can see the destiny some can't. But whatever happens, it is always for a reason, a GOOD REASON.
I, dear Cate, love each and every posting. You are truly a wise woman to me and have shown me the ways.
May your river ramble on smooth or harsh, no one knows...
Soul sister,
Luv Louise
