It's Labor Day, and there is the resonant hum of legions of contented grasshoppers conversing in the field below the western hill. Somewhere away up that hill in the oak and hickory woods, clans of wild turkeys are foraging for nuts and acorns in the leaf strewn clearings and gobbling their pleasure to the world at large.
This morning, four of us are pottering in the woods: Himself and I, darling Cassie (always with us in spirit) and our new family member who arrived yesterday, a young German Shorthair Pointer named Spencer. My newly adopted son was a rescue - he is nervous, and he is seriously underweight, but he is just "over the moon" to have a loving home, doting parents, a large yard to play in and enough to eat. When he settles in and slows down a bit, there will be pictures.

Woo hoo! Awesome grasshopper shots, and WELCOME, Spencer!
Can't wait for those pics.
You really captured how beautiful these creatures are up close. Lovely.
And thus the healing begins.
Oh, welcome, Spencer, you lucky little guy, you. How random is fate, and how fortunate are you. I can't wait to see your picture! I'm so glad to hear Cassie is near. I hear the singing outside too. Is it grasshoppers? Maybe I'll go out for a few minutes too. Thank you for the idea to do so. Joyce
He has reason to be over the moon. I believe he may have found heaven.
Congratulations Cate! give that skinny wild dog a good belly rub for me.
Nice photo of a grasshopper!
A warmness in my heart from your sharing. Welcome to your new home Spencer. You will think you are in Heaven.
Hope you get lots of and joy from Spencer. Cassie would be smiling. She probably guided your choice! These animal spirits are so wise.
Many blessings.
Kate
