This Friday's ramble was one by the Clyde River, on a cold day when the wind whistled through the pines, and the cedars on the river bank made long blue shadows down the slope and across the sleeping river in its blanket of snow.
Just beyond the perimeter of this photo, a small herd of deer was browsing on young cedar. Somewhere around the bend, wild turkeys were making their way across the field in single file - they were headed for our neighbor's towering heap of corn sileage, seeking lunch and a cozy cove out of the wind. We were all thankful for the shelter of the evergreens on such a cold bleak day.

So beautiful. Tell me how you dress when you do your rambles. It must be mighty cold. Talked to my son in Port Angeles, WA tonight and they got their first snow today.
