Charlie, enjoying a few minutes of sunshine on the fence in front of the old log barn on a fine early March morning...
You can't see it here, but the maple sap is running, and the syrup season is in full swing in the Lanark Highlands. The sugar house on the hill behind the barn is cranked up and boiling away merrily, steam billowing in all directions, sweetness in the air.

Ah yes, kitty and a I are in the same mood this fine morning. It is as if I am waking from a long cold sleep.
Our eyes rest on kitty colors and barn slats. We are welcomed by barn shades of weathered gray, white and brown. Kitty fluff all striped gray and white and black scratches his head with squinted eyes hoping the feeling last forever. :)
Mmm syrup! Delightful post :-)
Charlie is a very handsome cat! I love the look on his face; it speaks volumes.
Being in a place where the sap runs, where it's maple syrup time, is a deeply held wish of mine to experience someday. Your cat is very Zen-like in his appreciation of a fine early March morning....
We were just talking about sugaring while skating today. We considering how before roads and bridges and vehicles for them, people in Canada would be pretty stuck in spring and fall when water passages would be too icy for canoe/boat and too watery for foot passage. But my h then mentioned during maple syrup season, people would be busy anyway.
This is exactly what I felt like yesterday and today.
This picture of Sugar Cat made me think of my Granddaddy and his cats. That memory made my heart smile! Thanks.
Charlie cat reminds me of one of ours. September, we called him because he came to us in September. This cat seems to be in seventh heaven!
