when the sky dies down, consider
your altered state: has this day
changed you? Are the corners
sharper or rounded off? Did you
live with death? Make decisions
that quieted? Find one clear word
that fit? At the sun's midpoint
did you notice a pitch of absence,
bewilderment that invites
the possible? What did you learn
from things you dropped and picked up
and dropped again? Did you set a straw
parallel to the river, let the flow
carry you downstream?

This past week has been one of those without pause and no time to think whether I honored the day well or not. Things should slow down soon and I can return again to being a thinker.
This looks exactly like my beloved Loon Lake in British Columbia...what is the name of this lake? Beautiful twilight photo...such a magical time!
Tabor, I hope that life DOES slow down for you, and that there is time for thinking and pondering and just plain old sitting.
Chris, the lake is Dalhousie in the Lanark highlands, and it does have loons - one of my favorite places ever....
It's just beautiful...my favorite landscapes or should I say, waterscapes? If you can ever get close enough to a Loon, would love to see your photo!! :) They are my favorite bird of all time!! That wild, haunting, call always sends shivers through me!
That's beautiful. These days have been good ones but too quick. Thank you for the reminder to pause.
