On morning walks, Spencer dances through tall grass and shrubbery with a grin and his expressive tail wagging. Dragonflies scatter like windblown confetti wherever he wanders.
This female Widow Skimmer (Libellula luctuosa) was artfully posed among the wicked blackberry canes in a nearby village hedgerow this morning. One of our favorite summer sightings, she was resting high enough in the shrubbery that he didn't dislodge her from her moorings.
