Finally on my way to yes
I bump into
all the places
where I said no
to my life
all the untended wounds
the red and purple scars
those hieroglyphs of pain
carved into my skin, my bones,
those coded messages
that send me down
the wrong street
again and again
where I find them
the old wounds
the old misdirections
and I lift them
one by one
close to my heart
and I say holy
holy.
Pesha Joyce Gertler
Thank you to Joanna Powell Colbert for bringing Pesha's extraordinary poem back to my attention. A gifted teacher and a fine poet, Pesha passed out of the world this past summer, and her wise and ferocious spirit is much missed.

Extraordinary is certainly the truth. It need to be read several times slowly and out loud.
This poem, this morning took my breath away...thank you. In Hebrew the word for holy is chanted kadosh kadosh kadosh again thank you.
Strong words softly spoken.
Beautiful post.
