How lovely. We have a borrow pit (where earth was removed to build the interstate highway, I've been told) right next to a road I travel almost daily, filled with water. It is covered with pink pond lilies...with old tree trunks still standing in places as well. A very interesting mix of the life and beauty coming forth amid the dead remains of tree submerged in that life giving water. There's no way to climb down to take pictures, nor parking anywhere near.
Cate, you certainly live in a wonderful place! And you make it come alive with your photos. Makes me want to move to the Lanark Highlands :) So peaceful... We are looking for a place like this to live - in a couple of years. I do have Canadian ancestors on both sides of my family, both from Nova Scotia - one from Digby, the other from Shubenacadie. Maybe my ancestry would allow me in :) while the politics of my own country deteriorate. Troubled days ahead I think...
