I love the loon's call. I heard it in person, then noticed how it' used in so many movies to indicate night-time. Do they really call at night? I don't go to movies in theaters, and seldom watch them even at home on electronic devices. Most of the good sounding ones never make it to Netflix. Oh dear, here I've gone off on another tangent. Have a lovely looney day!
I have heard them call in the day...rarely here in the Mid-Atlantic but much more often in early evening in Canada. It is a haunting and lovely refrain.

Beautiful! My favorite bird in all the world! And yes, they do call at night! :)
Along with herons, loons are my favorite bird, and I love the sound of them calling across the water at night, sometimes just after sunrise.
We are kindred spirits! :)
