We had a group dinner last evening, and discussion veered all over the place, including use of acorns for food...how to use them so the nutrients might be edible. Nobody knew exactly how, but one woman talked of a camp experience where the kids washed them in a stream at least...and whatever else they did didn't make them palatable. They also tried eating wasp larvae. Yep, our fare was really delicious in comparison!
Now when I see a vast harvest of acorns I realize that in a few years this means an increase in ticks and exposure to the endless new diseases they are bringing!! Sad, I know.
